What is a Merle?
Merle is a dilution gene, that is, it lightens whatever the coat color would otherwise have been. The lightening is not spread evenly over the coat, but leaves patches of undiluted color scattered over the dog’s coat, leaving that beautiful Merle pattern that we all love! Their fur can have hundreds of different markings but the most common is the dark brown or black and the dominant color is usually white, cream, or fawn.
Even though the Merle French Bulldog is known to be stubborn (in the cutest way possible!), they are also known for their deeply affectionate, playful nature.
